Operations Assistant

Role and Responsibilities     

The Operations Assistant is an integral part of The Learning Source, providing assistance to the Program Operations Manager in supporting the day-to-day operations of the agency and helping programs run smoothly and efficiently. This position is housed at The Learning Source East location but may be sent to other sites for projects, as needed. General responsibilities include:   

  • Serving as the first point of contact for The Learning Source by answering phones and general inquiries about our programs while providing excellent customer service
  • Overseeing web registration processes for the agency, as well as general updates to The Learning Source website 
  • Updating program flyers and general marketing and outreach materials
  • Assisting with on-boarding and training processes for new staff
  • Collaborating with the Program Operations Manager to update agency forms and processes within the Program Handbook 
  • Serving as the liaison with The Learning Source IT contractor to troubleshoot agency technology needs, with support from the Program Operations Manager
  • Assisting with general office supply orders on a bi-weekly basis
  • Working with Program Operations Manager to ensure agency data is accurate and up-to-date 
  • Providing back-up support to program during enrollment and post-testing periods 
  • Providing logistical support to agency wide events such as graduation, all staff professional development days, and staff/volunteer socials
  • Attending staff meetings, professional development trainings and workshops as assigned by The Learning Source Program Operations Manager.

Qualifications and Education Requirements·        

  • Experience working in an office setting, performing and managing small administrative projects·        
  • Experience working with the adult learner population·        
  • Knowledge of educational assessment tools – TABE and CASAS experience preferred·        
  • Knowledge and experience with databases – LACES experience preferred·        
  • Organized and good attention to detail
  • Self-directed and ability to work independently to complete assigned projects in an efficient and timely manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with other staff members to support agency goals and outcomes

Responsible for planning and implementation of an infant/toddler and pre-school program at a school-based family literacy centers. Maintains children's development records and fosters a safe and caring environment for the children. Subbing can take place Monday through Thursday, 6 hours per day following the school’s schedule. Occasionally, there may be hours on Friday.

Qualification/Experience include:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • The ability to implement reasoning and problem-solving strategies
  • Communication skills in staff/child/parent relations
  • The upper body strength to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Program Leader Certification preferred
  • Minimum one year experience working with young children

  • Develop, implement and coordinate program activities for infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers;
  • Attend ½ day training, or job responsibilities and requirements with the Program Director.

  • Inform Lead Teacher or Children Program Coordinator of any needs, problems, or accidents involving children in care;

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Learning Source is seeking applicants for a GED Instructor position at the Denver County Jail, Smith Road and Havana. The teacher is responsible for student assessment, instruction and volunteer management as well as coordination with corrections staff. Classes are currently held on Tuesday and Thursday 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

  • Teach adult basic education/GED curriculum in an individualized, self-paced environment.
  • Teach job skills/workforce curriculum.
  • Provide guidance to tutors regarding curriculum, teaching methods, materials.
  • Demonstrate curriculum methods and materials to volunteers

School-based Family Literacy Lead Teacher

This position requires the teacher to have reliable transportation.

Salary: $25,000 per annum prorated throughout the calendar year plus benefits.

Full-time: Working days and hours correspond to the appropriate teacher calendar for the Aurora Public Schools.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Learning Source is seeking applicants for Family Literacy Lead Teacher position in the Aurora Public Schools, Kenton Elementary. The successful applicant oversees general management of the learning center and is responsible for adult student assessment (CASAS and TABE) placement and instruction, as well as general volunteer management. The teacher also provides parenting workshops and coordinates PACT (parent and child together) and Two-generation activities in coordination with the school staff. Adult instruction will be a combination of English language and/or adult basic education/career skills preparation.

  •  Teach English language and/or ABE plus career skills preparation to parents of school-aged children in an elementary school setting.
  • Provide guidance to volunteers regarding curriculum, teaching methods, materials.
  • Perform record-keeping and reporting responsibilities using computer-based program.
  • Attend workshops, training and in-services as indicated by the Program Manger.
  • Help foster an encouraging and supportive environment for volunteers by providing guidance in curriculum selection and teaching methods, as well as regularly responding to tutor concerns and needs.
  • Provide parenting workshops to adults enrolled in the program.
  • Coordinate and oversee PACT time in elementary classrooms.
  • Encourage Two-generation activities between parents and children in the schools.
  • Assist with parent involvement during school events.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  •  Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.
  • College degree in education, liberal arts or related field.

  • Experience teaching English language and/or adult basic education/career skills preparation to adults.
  • Experience working in a four-component family literacy program preferred.
  • Knowledge of adult education theory, including English language instruction.
