Class Descriptions

The Learning Source provides a range of adult and family programming through unique partnerships in the Denver metro area. Below is a brief description of these programs. 

The Learning Source is  not a GED® Testing site. We offer GED preparation classes.

Family Literacy 

Through educational instruction in reading, writing, listening, grammar, and speaking English, parents are empowered to assist their children in their education and pursue their own educational goals, have access to community resources, and integrate into their communities. This program is free to parents and families of children attending one of the public schools where we offer Family Literacy classes. 

Sites: Aurora and Cherry Creek Public Schools 

 

 

Adult Basic Education (ABE)/High School Equivalency (HSE) 

Our ABE and HSE classes build literacy and numeracy skills and prepare adult learners to pass tests in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science to achieve their High School Equivalency Diploma through onsite instruction, small group work, or individualized classwork.

English Language Acquisition (ELA) 

The Learning source ELA classes teach six levels of English proficiency with a focus on competencies needed for living and working in an English-speaking society. Throughout the levels students work on the following skills: reading, listening, speaking, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.

The Learning Collaborative (TLC) 

TLC supports adult learners in foundational skill development in English and Math in partnership with Red Rocks Community College and assists students with college readiness skills for college entry and success.

Distance Learning 

The distance learning program provides preparation for the High School Equivalency exams to students that may have barriers to attending traditional classes through online course work, facilitated by an instructor.
